Shared Text Study and Basic English Essay Structure

You will be shown how to develop skills in:

  • Reading, understanding and analysing wirtten and visual texts
  • Basic essay writing as required by the markers

 

Session B

Critical Reading of Written and Visual Texts

(A goldmine for marks) This session will provide a range of strategies to critically analyse techniques used by writers to convey their message to an audience.

 

Session C

Practical Indepth Writing Skills

This session provides both practice in essay writing and critical reading responses.

Note: Students need to bring examples of their writing to this session. 

Session D

Poetry

You will be shown how to develop skills to:

 

  • Approach the study of poetry
  • Understand how the techniques of poetry function
  • Write effective responses including essays
